Five area businesses are among 43 companies pitching to prospective investors at InvestMidwest Venture Capital Forum, taking place March 29 in St. Louis.
The 19th annual event offers an opportunity for fast-growth companies to connect with possible funders.
Each company has up to eight minutes to impress investors in one of three industry tracks: food, agriculture and bioenergy; life sciences; and technology and general business.
Kansas City-area companies are featured in each track.
Food, agriculture and bioenergy
- Life Equals, a Mission company that produces a superfood drink
- Prommune, an Overland Park research and development company that has created a unique immunotherapy option
Life sciences
- Novadiol, a Shawnee biopharma company that develops treatments for kidney diseases
Technology
- Cambrian, a Leawood firm that developed an app to depict various paint colors in the user’s home
- Bardavon Health Innovations, an Overland Park company that has created a suite of online tools that help employers better track the progress of injured workers’ care.
Other presenters also have area connections. Kenzen, a San Francisco company, has received funding from Mid-America Angels. Grit Virtual is based in Wichita, and Green Dot Bioplastics is located in Cottonwood Falls, Kan.
In addition to pitches for funding, the expected 300 guests at InvestMidwest also were expected to hear from speakers including Jason Hall, CEO of the Arch to Park Collaborative; Dedric Carter, a professor of engineering and entrepreneurship at Washington University in St. Louis; Bill Anderson, executive director of Missouri Technology Corp.; and Dan Katz, director of global public policy and North American projects for Virgin Hyperloop One.
