KCI Auto Auction has given the largest annual corporate donation ever received by Jackson County’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers program. The program helps more than 1,050 abused and neglected children under court protection.
KCI Auto Auction gave $41,000 to CASA in 2014, bringing the company’s total donations to CASA in the last three years to $91,000— which also makes KCI Auto Auction the largest business donor in the three decades that CASA has been in operation.
The money donated by KCI Auto Auction to CASA is used to train and support the organization’s volunteers. Those volunteers research each child’s background, and provide recommendations to the court about where the children should reside and which educational, medical and therapeutic services they should receive.
“We are so grateful for this extraordinary company’s exceptional support,” said Jackson County CASA Executive Director Martha Gershun in a release. “Doug Doll, owner/general manager for KCI Auto Auction, has developed the perfect mix of smart business model, excellent staff and good heart. All the other KCI Auto Auction employees we work with, including Jennifer Leocardi, who leads the KCI Cares program, demonstrate the same dedication, true kindness and concern for their community.”
“Through our KCI Cares program, we joined with our employees and dealers to support programs in our community that are making a positive impact,” Doll said. “We invited a number of area nonprofits to present information to a 13-member committee comprised of all our department managers plus several interested employees. The committee selected Jackson County CASA as one of three nonprofits that they strongly believed deserved our support the past few years.”
The other two nonprofits were Camp Quality, which hosts summer camps for kids with cancer and their siblings, and Sheffield Place, which helps homeless mothers and their children. KCI Auto Auction donated a total of $160,000 to the three groups in 2014.
Earlier this year, KCI Auto Auction received Jackson County CASA’s Light of Hope Award in recognition of the company’s ongoing commitment to the community’s most at-risk children.
