A manufacturer based in Kansas City, Kan., received a visit from Gov. Jeff Colyer on Oct. 15 after being named as 2018 Kansas Exporter of the Year.
Schroer Manufacturing, doing business as Shor-Line, manufactures animal care products including surgery tables, scales, kennel runs and cages. The exporting award recognizes a Kansas business for exceptional international marketing success.
“The animal health industry is a major driver of the Kansas economy, and the success of Schroer Manufacturing shows that Kansas companies are competitive across the world,” Colyer said.
Shor-Line made a commitment to international trade in 1985 when President Joe Schroer headed overseas to establish a sales and warehousing operation in the United Kingdom. The third-generation family-held business was founded by Schroer’s grandfather and great-uncle in 1927. After 91 years, the company has about 200 employees.
“We have worked hard as a company to work with thought leaders and our customers to meet the changing and evolving needs of those who buy our products,” said Richard Donahue, chairman and also a descendant of the founders. “Shor-Line employees show every day the attention to detail and quality craftsmanship that make Shor-Line products last for decades and serve the pets so well.”
