Crawford Architects to Create New Training Facility for Vikings

Crawford Architects, a Kansas City-based firm, has been tapped to design a new training facility and headquarters for the Minnesota Vikings.

The project will be built in Eagan, Minn., just south of St. Paul. It will include a 6,000-seat stadium, indoor and outdoor practice fields, administrative offices, meeting rooms and a broadcast studio. Construction should be completed in the next 20 months.

The Vikings’ facilities are actually the first phase of a much larger redevelopment project that will continue over the next 10 to 15 years.

“This new facility will continue the Vikings’ ascension within the NFL, raising the bar for the team, for NFL training facilities and for human performance facilities nationwide,” said David Murphy, principal at Crawford Architects.

“We are proud to join the Vikings and the NFL in their significant commitments to the Eagan community and intend to leverage the area’s economic development engine by bringing new attention, jobs and consumer traffic to the community from all over the country through the design of this complex.”

Crawford, which also has an office in Sydney, Australia, has an established track record of creating projects like this one. The firm’s past clients include the Seattle Seahawks, Penn State and South Dakota State University.
