Infusion Express—a KC-based company that operates three infusion therapy centers—is planning to open five new clinics in Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco in the coming weeks.
The first of the new clinics opens today in Malvern, Pennsylvania. It’s located near a Cerner outpost there; Cerner became a major client of Infusion Express earlier this year.
At Infusion Express, people with Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, lupus and other conditions can receive IV therapy in a relaxed, spa-like setting during the evenings and weekends, when many doctor’s offices or hospital-based centers aren’t open. The company, which works with self-insured employers and most health plans, said it also can deliver service at a lower cost.
“Patients who need regular infusions often are deeply inconvenienced by their conditions and yearn to feel empowered to choose where and when they get treatments. They lead busy lives and want to minimize treatment disruptions so they can get back to work, school, friends and family,” said Don Peterson, the CEO and founder of Infusion Express.
“We’ve created an alternative for patients across the country that offers the same high-quality healthcare they receive at a hospital or doctor’s office but in a setting where they’re treated like a guest, not just a patient.”
