River Watch Beef, a Kansas City-based startup, is shipping grass-fed, all-natural beef to consumers across the country.
The antibiotic-free, premium meat comes from River Watch’s own Angus and Hereford cattle raised in Kansas and Colorado.
“Our goal at River Watch Beef is to conveniently deliver exceptional beef, on par with fine dining, for about the same price as your local butcher,” said Chris Kovac, founder of River Watch Beef. The company launched last year and delivers both custom orders and a subscription service.
“It can be difficult to find quality all-natural grass-fed beef, much less have it delivered,” Kovac said. “To maintain strict quality standards, we manage the entire process, from raising animals, to processing, packaging and finally delivery to the consumer. We are ‘hands on’ with our beef, and you can literally taste the difference.”
River Watch Beef’s Sampler Pack – which includes $99 worth of steak, hamburger and a brisket roast – has a shipping cost of $12.95, but shipping is free for Kansas City customers. The meat contains no additives, no GMOs and no hormones, and has been dry-aged for 21 days.
“Most folks have no idea where their food comes from, how it’s produced or what’s in it,” Kovac said. “We should demand better, if not for ourselves, for our children. After raising beef for 10 years, our family discovered that not all beef is the same. The major beef producers usually feed cattle with unhealthy corn, food waste like candy or artificial additives to ‘fatten them up.’ We’re different because our cattle graze on natural and native grasses.”
