Local accountant Leon Logan will serve as the Shawnee Chamber’s 2015 board chairman.
Logan, an 11-year member of the chamber, was officially introduced as chairman at the organization’s annual gala. He succeeds David Herndon of Community First Bank.
“We are thrilled to have Leon Logan as our chairman,” said Linda Leeper, the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO. “Leon’s leadership and expertise will help fulfill our mission to develop and enhance our community through dynamic business leadership.”
Logan has extensive experience on several civic and business organizations’ boards, including the Wyandotte Health Foundation, the Kansas State Board of Accountancy and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
“I am honored to be the chairman of the board of directors this year and will continue with the programs that are in place to encourage growth and development in Shawnee,” Logan said. “This is an exciting time of new growth and development in Shawnee. Through the partnership with the Shawnee Economic Development Council and the City of Shawnee, the chamber has seen more than a quarter of a billion dollars of new business over the past four years.”
At the gala, the chamber also presented its annual Citizen of the Year Award to Ron Freyermuth, Shawnee’s director of public works. Freyermuth has served the city for more than 30 years. He originally went to work for Shawnee as city engineer, but was quickly promoted to public works director.
