The awards, which are being presented by Thinking Bigger Business Media, will pay tribute to mentors who have coached Kansas City’s up-and-coming business owners. Winners will be selected in three categories:

HEMP’S Lifetime Achievement Award in Entrepreneurial Mentoring: Honoring HEMP mentors who have exhibited an unwavering commitment and countless hours of service to helping entrepreneurs grow. (This award will be selected by HEMP and won’t be open for public nomination.)

Entrepreneurial Mentor of the Year: A current, active business mentor credited by their mentees and peers for enhancing the growth of Kansas City companies by (1) providing valuable advice and support through a significant commitment of time and effort and (2) building their mentees’ professional skills and abilities.

Corporate Mentor of the Year: Presented to a corporate professional who mentors other employees within an organization, resulting in (1) career and leadership advancements for the mentee and (2) achievement of specific business objectives of the organization.

The awards program will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Sheraton Overland Park. John Mackey, co-founder of Whole Foods, will deliver the keynote. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Sept. 1.
