KR-HR, a human resources company targeting small businesses, has opened in Overland Park.

Karen Hughey founded the firm to to help small business owners with a variety of human resource issues, including compliance issues employee engagement and workplace satisfaction.

“We know our clients are busy running their business, not worrying about staying up-to-date with the ever-changing HR laws and landscape,” Hughey said. “That’s where we come in. We give them simplified solutions so they can focus on their business.”

Hughey has more than 20 years of experience, including owning and managing her own business. She also did stints at Chrysler, Chrysler Financial and Optum Rx.

Among the services offered are employee handbooks, an HR compliance audit focused on wage and hour pay practices, I-9 issues, employee personnel files, job descriptions and hiring practices. Hughey said the company offers additional services for its retained clients.
