Nominations Now Open for KS Exporter of the Year

The Kansas Department of Commerce is taking nominations now through Jan. 30 for the 2015 Governor’s Exporter of the Year Award.

The annual Exporter of the Year honor, which is going into its 27th year, is presented to a Kansas business that has excelled in international trade and marketing. The winner will be announced next June during Business Appreciation Month.

“Kansas exports have increased by more than 25 percent since 2010 as businesses in our state have achieved success in markets across the world,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George in a release. “It’s important to recognize the companies that help grow our economy by expanding their export abilities through hard work and innovation.”

Nominated companies for Exporter of the Year will be judged on:

  • Number and/or percentage increase in jobs created because of global activities.
  • International marketing innovations.
  • Number of nations to which goods are exported.
  • Successful use of international distributors.
  • Long-range global strategies and projections for growth.
  • Commitment to the state of Kansas and the local community.
  • Amount and quality of foreign-language marketing materials and promotional activities.
  • Participation in trade shows and international expositions.

Self-nominations are welcome.
