Nominations Open for 2016 Stemmy Awards

The organizers of the Stemmy Awards are asking Kansas Citians to nominate local women who are doing incredible things in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical fields.

Hosted by Central Exchange, the Stemmy Awards celebrate high-achieving professional women in these industries. This year’s third annual gala will be Sept. 28 at the Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland.

Last year’s honorees include:

  • Deborah O’Bannon, medical student at Kansas State University – WiSTEMM Educator Award
  • Muriel Eaton, professor of civil engineering at UMKC – Student Achiever
  • Gretchen Ivy, director of the integrated planning solutions practice at HNTB – Rising Trendsetter
  • Sunita Lavin, project manager for aviation software at Garmin – Rising Trendsetter
  • Marion Pierson, pediatric partner at Village Pediatrics LLC – Rising Trendsetter
  • Tiffany Wheeler, civil engineer at KCP&L – Rising Trendsetter
  • Debra Ellies, founder of OsteoGeneX  – Enterprising Innovator
  • Linda Netzel, director of Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory – Groundbreaker
  • Honeywell – Corporate Hero
