Central Exchange is taking nominations now for its STEMMY Awards, which celebrate women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.
The second annual gala is set for Sept. 24 at Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland in downtown Kansas City, Mo. (Tickets, when they go on sale, will be available through this website.)
Central Exchange plans to name winners in the following categories:
Ground Breaker Leadership Award // This award will be presented to a woman with at least 20 years of postgrad experience in a STEMM field. This person must hold a leadership post in her business or organization, and she must have made significant contributions to the local STEMM fields.
Rising Trendsetter Award // There will actually be five Trendsetter Awards presented – one for each of the five STEMM focus areas. The winners will have less than 20 years of experience, but will have a record of significant achievements.
Enterprising Innovator // This award is for a woman business owner in a STEMM field, based here in Kansas City for at least five years.
Corporate Hero // This award could be presented to a person or a company that has helped advance women in STEMM fields.
WiSTEMM Educator // The winner will be a full-time faculty member teaching in a STEMM focus area. The winner, who must have 10 years or more of experience, will have a track record of excellence in the classroom and in STEMM-based student organizations or events.
WiSTEMM Student Achiever // The winner must be a female college student who’s enrolled in a college university on either side of the state line.
