OP’s Farmobile Raises $5.5 Million in Series A Round

Local startup Farmobile has raised $5.5 million through a recently completed Series A round of investment.

The Overland Park company has created a system that makes it easier to gather data from farm equipment and, if a farmer chooses, sell it to large ag companies that are hungry for that information.

“Data is one of the most valuable things a farmer harvests today,” said Jason Tatge, Farmobile’s founder and CEO. “Today’s announcement is a huge win for farmers around the world who want to put their data to work. Farmers ought to own and directly profit from the information they produce. It’s that simple.”

The Series A round was led by Anterra Capital, a venture capital firm based in Amsterdam with a focus on agriculture and food.

Farmobile also recently announced a strategic partnership with DTN/The Progressive Farmer, which produces management software, media and other tools for farmers. Farmobile’s service will now come bundled with the company’s weather stations.

“We are investing in an experienced team with a superior product that is addressing a large market opportunity,” said Dudley Hawes, partner at Anterra Capital. “We’ve been looking for technology that can demonstrably make farms more profitable, at scale. Farmobile has both the vision and the grit necessary to spark a revolution in the use of farm data.”
