Pathfinder Health Innovations is planning to move its offices from Kansas to Missouri, partly because of how Gov. Sam Brownback’s policies have affected the Sunflower State’s budget and spending.
In a post on the company’s blog, CEO Jeff Blackwood said his company also needs more space and noted that Missouri is offering incentives to support the move.
But Blackwood also noted a string of government decisions that have made it easier to relocate to Missouri.
Those include the state’s tax cuts and continuing budget woes; the closure of the Kansas Social & Rehabilitation Services office in Lawrence, which forces low-income kids and developmentally disabled people to seek services in Topeka; the investigation of the Kansas Bioscience Authority; and more.
“I can’t, in good conscience, continue to give our tax money to a government that actively works against the needs of its citizens; a state that is systematically targeting the citizens in most need, denying them critical care and reducing their cost of life as if they’re simply a tax burden that should be ignored,” Blackwood wrote.
“It’s because of these moves that I have decided to deny Kansas revenue from Pathfinder’s taxes by moving our company to Missouri. Sure, our company taxes are a drop in the bucket, but I do not, in any way, support the Brownback administration’s actions.”
Pathfinder HI was formerly known as ABPathfinder. The company develops software solutions that support autism therapy. It’s is a past winner of the 25 Under 25® Awards.
