Prime Capital Investment Advisors, a financial planning firm based in Overland Park, is shaking up its leadership team.

Glenn Spencer has joined the firm as CEO. Scott Colangelo, who was CEO, will become managing director, chairman; President Tim Hakes will take the title managing director, vice chairman.

Spencer will run day-to-day operations of the firm and will work with senior leadership to develop and execute the firm’s strategic plans. He will report to the managing directors. Spencer most recently was global CEO at Lockton Cos.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about joining such a dynamic organization that keeps client focus, innovation and simplicity at the center of everything we do,” Spencer said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to working with our teams to build the industry leading firm in our space.”

Prime Capital came on the scene in 2017 when the managing directors and two of the firm’s wealth advisers bought the wealth management assets of Lawing Financial. Colangelo and Hakes each had been at Lawing Financial for about 20 years.

The firm has locations throughout the U.S. and provides fee-based asset management and wealth management. Its plans include growth, Colangelo said.
