Running Well Store Opens New Shop in Lee’s Summit

The Running Well Store—a local shop that sells shoes and other gear for runners and CrossFit enthusiasts—has expanded to a second location in Lee’s Summit.

The 1,650-square-foot store is at 418 S.E. Missouri 291, and its grand opening will be this Saturday, Feb. 7. The shop, which employs 10 full- and part-time workers, is planning a series of discounts and a raffle.

The original Running Well Store, which used to do business as Sports Medicine Store/Metro Walk and Run, opened in 2006. It’s at 6106 N.W. Barry Road. The stores sponsor local running events and offer stride analysis to help shoppers find the right kind of shoe for how they run.

“When I was considering a second location, I remembered how much I loved the personality of Lee’s Summit,” Running Well Store owner Kathy Gates said. “It reminds me a lot of the Northland in that it is a thriving, kind neighborhood with a great downtown shopping area, a strong Chamber of Commerce and an avid running community.

“I am convinced that our civic-minded culture and staff of seasoned runners with experience choosing running equipment tailored to the style and experience of each and every athlete will be a great addition to Lee’s Summit.”
