ShotTracker Wins Prize for Best Speed Pitch at SXSW

Local startup ShotTracker has won the prize for the best one-minute speed pitch during the SXSW Accelerator Startup Competition in Austin.

The win comes with more than bragging rights—ShotTracker also received a $1,000 prize. ShotTracker, which competed in the wearable tech category, was up against national and even international competition.

ShotTracker was founded by Davyeon Ross and Bruce Ianni, two KC-based entrepreneurs who are graduates of the Pipeline Entrepreneurial Fellowship.

The Overland Park-based company has developed a system that lets basketball players track their shooting accuracy.

Players wear a special wrist sensor while aiming at a basketball net equipped with another sensor. Those devices help record how many shot attempts a player makes and the number of completions, which the player can view through a smartphone app.

ShotTracker costs about $150 through the company’s website. It was made available to the general public last November.
