Kansas City business accelerator SparkLabKC is now accepting applications for its third class of 10 early-stage technology startup companies.
The SparkLabKC accelerator program will begin Jan. 12, 2015. The application deadline is Dec. 1. Submit applications at SparkLabKC.com.
The SparkLabKC 90-day accelerator program provides:
- Seed capital worth up to $18,000
- More than 100 mentors from an array of industries
- Free workspace at the SparkLabKC office at 127 W. 10th St., Suite 102.
- Legal, accounting and financial services
The SparkLabKC program runs for three months. Month one is devoted to refining strategies for each startup’s business model and products, with a lot of involvement from SparkLabKC mentors. The second month is given over to prototype development. During month three, program participants fine-tune their pitches for the culminating Demo Day on April 10, when they’ll show off their product or service to venture capitalists and angel investors.
- Month one concentrates on mentoring to help refine business and product strategies.
- Month two is product-focused with work on prototype development.
- Month three centers on refining a prototype pitch for Demo Day on April 10, 2015, when each participating startup will present its prototype product to an audience of angel investors and venture capitalists.
The SparkLabKC program partners with some of the biggest companies, nonprofits and research institutions in the Kansas City region, including Polsinelli, DST Systems, Missouri Bank, the University of Missouri-Kansas City Innovation Center and others.
