S. Sloane Simmons, the co-owner of STUFF, is the new chairwoman of the Friends of Art Council at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
The Friends of Art Council is the official governing body for the museum’s general membership. The council helps recruit and retain museum members, and develops social and educational events. More than 14,000 people are members of the Nelson-Atkins.
Simmons joined the council about three years ago. She has been a member of the Nelson-Atkins for nearly 30 years.
As the co-owner of STUFF, a shop that sells an eclectic lineup of jewelry, photo frames, clothing and other items, Simmons already works closely with many local artists. Simmons and her sister and co-owner Casey Simmons have operated STUFF for nearly 20 years. It is previous winner of Thinking Bigger Business Media’s 25 Under 25® Awards.
Thinking Bigger Business featured STUFF on its December 2013 cover. You can read that story here.
