SuperFit! Protein Muffins to Expand Thanks to Co-Packing Agreement

Superfit Foods, an Overland Park company that produces the gluten-free SuperFit! Protein Muffins, has signed a manufacturing and distribution agreement with a Wathena bakery.

Marie Antoinette’s Gluten-Free Bake Shoppe will serve as a contract packer, or co-packer, and handle production, freeing Superfit owner Chris Bremerman to focus on business development.

“This expansion has been part of our growth strategy from the beginning,” Bremerman said. “Marie’s is a quality organization, and partnering with them will position our company for future expansion. We plan to more than double our distribution (from 20 to over 75 stores) by end of first quarter 2016.”

Bremerman started Superfit in 2012. A personal trainer, she was looking for healthy, convenient snacks for her family and started making her own style of muffins. She ended up sharing extras with her training clients, who ate them up and spread the word to her friends. Soon, she was receiving orders for muffins by the dozen. That’s when she decided to turn it into a business of its own.

“We really just wanted to offer a great food that people could grab and go,” Bremerman said.
