Innovative Fulfillment Solutions (IFS), an e-commerce fulfillment and logistics company that is celebrating its 20th year in business in Riverside, Mo., has been acquired by Symbia Logistics of Edwards, Colo.
IFS has been a pioneer in providing third-party fulfillment services to e-commerce companies since 1998, getting its start around the time that Amazon became a household name.
“Since launching IFS, we’ve seen explosive growth in online shopping and e-commerce services,” IFS co-founder and CEO Keith Milburn said. “It’s been an exciting ride for the past 20 years, and we’re delighted with this transition occurring following the best year in company history. And, we are thrilled to know that the Symbia team will continue to treat our employees, our clients and their customers with the same care and exceptional customer service that we have committed to over the years.”
Located in suburban Kansas City, IFS is a world-class, full-service fulfillment operation with a track record of success and an international client base. Some clients outsource a small portion of their fulfillment operation to IFS while others rely on IFS as a complete, turn-key third-party solution. Symbia Logistics is a privately held family business with warehouse facilities in the United States and Canada. The company has been developing customized solutions and processes for logistics clients since 1989. The Symbia Logistics team provides facility-based supply chain support to a variety of industries including sporting goods, apparel, dry grocery, health and beauty, aerospace, chemical, industrial goods, kitting, and direct-to-consumer fulfillment services. Symbia maintains its corporate headquarters in Edwards, Colo., and operates an executive office at its new facility in Aurora, Colo.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have IFS become part of the Symbia family of companies,” Symbia CEO Megan Smith said. “We approached IFS because of its stellar reputation for providing outstanding service to their clients and ultimately to e-commerce customers. Plus, we were impressed with their roster of long-term satisfied clients as well as the culture Keith had nurtured at the company. The IFS team has an exceptional work ethic and every team member is dedicated to providing value to the business. IFS is a great fit for Symbia.”
IFS has around 50 employees, all of whom will remain in their positions going forward. Matt McCoy, Symbia General Manager, will continue to run the local operation. McCoy joined IFS in 2014 as Vice President of Operations and was promoted to President in 2017.
