East Crossroads-based Torn Label Brewing Company recently announced its launch of six-pack cans of three year-round flagship ales. Canning operations are underway at the brewery for its Alpha Pale, House Brew coffee wheat stout, and Belgian-inspired Monk & Honey packaged in 12-oz. cans.
“It’s a huge step, but this has been a natural progression. As Alpha, House and Monk found devoted and passionate fans in the Kansas City area and beyond, we constantly had people who wanted to know when they would be able to stock their home refrigerator with them,” said Rafi Chaudry, who co-founded the brewery with head brewer Travis Moore.
Chad Troutwine and Carol Troutwine comprise the other two partners who co-founded the brewery in 2015.
With an established brand and presence at area bar taps, Moore and Chaudry decided the timing was right to begin distribution of canned beer. Torn Label six-packs will be available for purchase throughout Kansas City, in both Missouri and Kansas, as well as select locations in Lawrence, Wichita, and the Kansas City suburbs.
The brewery utilizes a brand new automated two-head canning system purchased from Wild Goose Canning. Canning operations are expected to more than double the production output of its 15-barrel brewhouse heading into the new year.
As a production brewery, Torn Label has focused primarily on producing draft beer for distribution in kegs to area retail accounts. Canning enables the brewery to further reach beer drinkers with a portable, year-round package for beer consumption at home, while camping or with other activities beyond a bar or taproom.
Moore said, “Our canning operation will bring our core lineup to consumers consistently, ideally without gaps in their availability.”
Torn Label celebrates its second anniversary in January with a can release party on January 7th at a location to be announced on its site.
