V-Wise, an entrepreneurship education program for women veterans and service members, is making a stop in the Kansas City region in November.
The program, which is from the Institute for Veterans and Military Families and Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, has an application deadline of Sept. 18 for those who want to participate in the local training.
V-Wise is made up of three phases. The first is a 15-day online learning session that gives women veterans and servicemembers (and female spouses and partners of military veterans) some basic knowledge about starting a sustainable business. The Kansas City class’s online training will start on Oct. 12.
The second piece is a three-day, in-person training session for about 200 women. V-Wise will come to the Sheraton Overland Park on Nov. 6-8. It’ll include several different tracks, including content for both newbies and those who already own their own companies.
And the third stage will involve participants connecting with various SBA-backed resources, such as the Women’s Business Center, the Small Business Development Centers and more.
There’s a $75 application fee for V-Wise, and students pay for their own transportation, but otherwise, there is no fee for participating.
