VolunteerMark Earns Top 10 Spot in Mobileys Contest

VolunteerMark, a mobile app developed in Merriam, is one of 10 finalists in the Mobileys, a national mobile innovation competition sponsored by Mobile Future.

VolunteerMark’s mobile platform enables nonprofit organizations and their volunteers to make the most of the volunteer experience through communication, scheduling and reporting tools. The app makes it simple to discover the ideal volunteer opportunity based on abilities, interest, availability and location.

As a top 10 finalist in the Mobileys, VolunteerMark is eligible to win the People’s Choice Award, which comes with a $2,500 prize to be determined by online voting that closes at midnight on Oct. 17. That’s in addition to three “podium awards” of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 that will be decided by a panel of judges selected by Mobile Future, an association of tech companies and nonprofits.

The other finalists include:

•CareGivingApp (Largo, FL) – a Web and mobile app that helps family and community members coordinate care.
•Code Blue (San Francisco) – an app that connects young people with resources to combat depression and bullying.
•First Derm (San Francisco) – an app that gives users a faster way to get a professional opinion on possible skin issues.
