Mission’s Acendas Travel has acquired Edina Travel, a Minnesota-based company, the latest in a series of acquisitions in the Twin Cities.
Acendas, which is one of the country’s top 50 travel management companies, first expanded into Minneapolis and St. Paul in 2010, when it acquired Vanguard Travel. Edina Travel is a 33-year-old company operated by Bryce Baker.
“Since we’ve been in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market, we’ve admired what Bryce and his team have done at Edina Travel,” said Ellie Noyes, Acendas’ director of vacations. “They had long been respected for their professionalism, expertise and service. It was a perfect fit culturally and strategically for us.”
Acendas, formerly known as All About Travel, has been in in business since 1982. It’s best known for its corporate travel management, vacation travel and meeting-and-incentives programs.
“The travel industry is changing at an increasing rate,” Baker said. “I felt that to best serve my customers, I needed to find a place for them with someone who has an eye to the future and is focused on innovation. Acendas Travel has a sterling reputation, and I have admired how they conduct business and treat their clientele. They are a testament as to why the use of agents is becoming more popular.”
