The application deadline is Nov. 1 for startups interested in being part of the 2015 BetaBlox incubator and accelerator program, which will mentor 10 early-stage small businesses in the Kansas City area.
The program offers startups hands-on instruction, products and services for six months, followed by years of further business assistance. About 300 people apply every year. Participating teams must be located within driving distance of downtown Kansas City.
“BetaBlox acts in a very hands-on way to get your company off the ground, and then transitions when you’re ready to more of an active board of advisors for the life of the company,” said Weston Bergmann, lead investor at BetaBlox. “Meanwhile, the other entrepreneurs in the program form a large, organized and permanent alliance to make this whole process not as lonesome or hard.”
The timeline for this year’s class is as follows:
- Final day to schedule an in-person meeting with BetaBlox staff is Nov. 5.
- Final interview/pitch to about five BetaBlox investors, attorneys and alumni is Nov. 22.
- Notification of BetaBlox acceptance is Nov. 25.
- Contract phase is Nov. 25 to Dec. 3.
- Contract signing is Dec. 3 or Dec. 5 with keys, codes and passwords provided. Startups can start using the facility, although the program hasn’t officially started.
- First formal BetaBlox event is Jan. 8, 2015.
