CEO Brent Shafer will be leaving Cerner, the Kansas City, Mo.-based healthcare technology company announced today.
The board of directors has initiated the process of identifying the company’s next CEO. Shafer plans to serve as chairman and CEO until his successor has been appointed, at which time he will serve as a senior advisor for a year.
The Cerner board also has approved a new share repurchase program, which allows the company to repurchase up to $3.75 billion through the end of 2023.
