Dolce Bakery pulled off a—I’m sorry, you’re just going to have to forgive the pun—very sweet victory in this year’s Battle of the Brands competition.
Every year, KCSourceLink sponsors a bracket-style challenge where the general public can vote online for their favorite companies. Battle of the Brands is fun, but it also happens to be a good way for Kansas City’s businesses to demonstrate (or improve) their social media skills.
In the final round, Dolce triumphed over KC Cool, a microenterprise that sells KC-themed T-shirts. Sporting Kansas City and AMC Theatres were defeated in the prior round.
Dolce put a lot of effort into the contest. From a previous post:
“We take a pretty broad approach as to how we reach our fans,” Dolce Bakery owner Erin Brown told KCSourceLink. “In addition to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we send out e-blasts through our email list and through the Prairie Village Shopping Center. We post signs in the shop with current information about every battle round and have cards for customers to take with them.
“We also send out internal emails to staff and rally them every round to reach out to their family and friends. Most importantly, as we previously mentioned, we have an amazing network of friends, family and loyal customers who simply believe in us and ‘go to the mattresses’ with us when we reach out to them.”
