Free One-Day Conference for KC Small Businesses on Sept. 16

Several groups are teaming up to host a free one-day conference that will help Kansas City small businesses run smoother and grow faster.

“Reaching Out to You” will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Technical Center. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be served at no cost.

The program is being hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Urban Financial Services Coalition and Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Seminars will include

–          Financial Education and Credit Reporting

–          Simple Steps to Starting a Business

–          How to Access Capital

–          Government Contracting

–          Veterans Outreach, which will cover programs designed for military veterans who own or are starting their own companies

Several lenders will have personnel at the conference to talk with small business owners about their financial needs, and attendees will be able to connect with different government agencies and resource groups offering free or low-cost help to small businesses.

And there will be a “credit reporting” room where attendees can get a free copy of their credit report (ID required) and receive advice from experts.
