Hello Fearless’ Sara Davidson Celebrates 1 Year of Boss School

Sara Davidson is the owner of Hello Fearless, a Kansas City-based company that—through its Boss School online coaching program—helps women across the country start and grow their own companies. Davidson recently celebrated the first anniversary of Boss School.

“There’s never been a better time in history for women to build companies and to go after their dreams,” Davidson said. “And whatever it is, it is 100 percent possible. The key is to take action and go after it.”

Hello Fearless was inspired by Davidson’s experience creating her first company, a consulting firm that helped launch and scale early-stage startups. About 95 percent of those other companies were male-led. As a female entrepreneur, she “felt like I was on an island by myself.”

She started Hello Fearless to assist other women who have big dreams of entrepreneurship, but either don’t have the personal networks or don’t live in communities with Women’s Business Centers and other resources. It’s self-paced, a benefit for women who might be busy with a day job or personal life.

“Women can take it from anywhere, and they can take it at their own pace,” Davidson said.

The 90-day Boss School course helps students get clear on what kind of entrepreneur they want to be, overcome limiting beliefs and then figure out what kind of business they want to have. That focus on personal growth first sets up women for success when they finally launch.

The program also helps women tackle some of the fears that might be holding them back from becoming entrepreneurs, such as having to sacrifice their family and lifestyle. Davidson shows her clients how, done properly, entrepreneurship can create more options and freedom for women.

“I think that the biggest challenge to operating a program like this is getting women to believe in what’s possible,” Davidson said.

She’s bullish on the value that women bring to new businesses.

Investors are focusing on women-led startups because those ventures tend to be more successful. Women also are better at multitasking—a critical skill when building a business—and they tend to be highly intuitive, Davidson said.

“You can have all the data in the world,” she said, “but you have to go off your intuition.”
