MarksNelson Receives National Award for Rate of Woman Ownership

Accounting firm MarksNelson has won a national honor for including more women in ownership roles.

The Accounting MOVE Project named MarksNelson one of the 2014 Best Accounting Firms for Leadership Equity. Women make up 36 percent of the firm’s ownership; nationally, the average for women in corporate leadership is closer to 14 percent.

The MOVE Project is an initiative from the American Society of Women Accountants and the American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants. The goal is to recognize companies that help women grow in the workplace and that remove possible barriers to success.

MarksNelson was one of nine firms that received the award, and the only one in the Kansas City region. This was the firm’s first year to win the honor.

“This award reinforces what we at MarksNelson already know, that women are both essential members and key leaders of our team,” said Mark Radetic, the firm’s managing member. “We are proud to be recognized for our dedication to ensuring that women on our team are valued and supported in their work both today and throughout their careers.”
