HSMC Orizon LLC, a past 25 Under 25® winner, has promoted Michael Bohning to head its new technology consulting practice, HSMC Orizon Technology, which has also acquired the IT services company IT21.
As president of HSMC Orizon Technology, Bohning will direct technology experts in different locations, including Lee’s Summit, Olathe and Omaha, Neb. He was previously HSMC Orizon’s director of IT services and before that a consulting services partner and managing partner for the Kansas City office of McGladrey (formerly RSM McGladrey).
“Having Michael leading our team will keep us moving forward with a growing technology practice,” Gene Garrelts, president of HSMC Orizon, said in a release. “With the recent acquisition of IT21, we’re well on our way to meeting our goal of adding talented professionals and services to help clients.”
Bohning selected IT21 to join HSMC Orizon Technology, because he was impressed with the track record of its founders, Chuck Nuffer and Rick Mentel, whose work in managed services and network support is highly regarded in the industry.
“They’ve done a terrific job of building formal processes, policies and procedures for clients,” Bohning said. “Whether IT21 is managing a client’s servers, workstations and security, or managing a more significant technology refresh project, Chuck and Rick have systems in place to manage all of the little things that often wind up costing a business owner time and money. They love helping clients get the most out of their technology instead of dealing with surprises and downtime.”
Nuffer and Mentel decided it was a great idea to become part of HSMC Orizon Technology, because they wanted to give their employees their next big challenge, they said.
“When we met with Michael and started talking about bringing our firms together,” Nuffer said, “we knew our staff had the chance to work with a great leader, like Michael, while working with a broader customer base.”
