Pijjin—a social game where players help lost pigeons or “pijjins” find their way home—took first place at the Startup Weekend held Nov. 15-17 at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
The 54-hour contest attracted 74 people, who formed 13 teams that each tried to build the best possible company in a single weekend.
Runner-up was EqueSmart, a service that makes it easier to keep track of horses’ health records. Third place went to Pearing, a photo-dating mobile app that works with Instagram.
The community favorite award was presented to Harp Health, which helps first responders use Google Glass to videoconference with doctors in real time, delivering more sophisticated care more quickly in emergency situations.
