It may look like just another truck on the road, but Synetic Technologies’ Data Annihilator is Kansas City’s first mobile hard-drive shredder.
The vehicle will travel to customers’ offices and destroy old hard drives and IT-related items. Inside the truck, a conveyor belt transports the IT assets to a shredder, which grinds the pieces and passes them through a screen into a bin. The collected materials are breach-proof in agreement with the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) and are recycled following R2/RIOS rules that protect the data and the environment.
The self-contained vehicle, created by Synetic Technologies, helps companies and government industries comply with changing compliance regulations and eliminate security breaches that can have significant financial, legal and public-relations ramifications.
“Many companies have IT assets that contain proprietary information,” said Synetic Technologies Vice President Gary Agness in a release. “Internal policy prohibits these assets from leaving the premises before the proprietary data they contain is destroyed.”
