Kansas City’s Urban Business Growth Initiative is gearing up for another round of classes this fall, and scholarships are available to help people with low- and moderate-incomes take part.
Theses course normally cost a few hundred dollars. With the scholarships, enrollment is only $75.
This fall’s slate of classes includes:
Icehouse Entrepreneurship Program, Sept. 17 – Nov. 19 // Focuses on eight critical parts of the entrepreneur’s mindset. Cost is $545, or $75 with scholarship.
Construction Business Management, dates TBD // Dedicated to helping construction companies grow larger. Cost is $795, or $75 with scholarship.
FastTrac TechVenture, Sept. 23 – Nov. 11 // Provides practical advice to entrepreneurs with tech-, science- or innovation-based ideas. Cost is $795, or $75 with a scholarship.
The classes will meet in the Blue Hills Contractor Incubator, the Black Economic Union’s Small Business Center and the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s 4747 Troost building.
There are a limited number of scholarships available, so if you’re interested, be sure to visit this website as soon as possible. The courses are open to anyone who is a resident of or owns a business in Kansas City, Mo.
The initiative is a collaboration involving KCBizCare, the UMKC Small Business and Technology Development Center, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center and KCSourceLink, with funding from the City of Kansas City, Mo.
Since it was launched, the Urban Business Growth Initiative has helped generate more than $6 million in sales and assisted in the creation of 68 jobs.
