You know what you know – but what do you Knoda?
Consumers should get the chance to soon find out, now that the Kansas City-based technology startup Knoda (NODE-uh) has secured seed funding this week from a local angel investor.
The Knoda co-founders are Kyle Rogers and James Flexman. They have a mutual background in marketing, social media and software development, and both have been involved with local pro sports teams, including the Kansas City Royals and Sporting KC.
The Knoda application invites users to make predictions on any subject – from box office hits and celebrity news to the outcomes of sporting events – and allows other users to react to those forecasts. Knoda’s distinctive form of crowd-sourced content determines who’s right and who’s wrong, and then ranks the various skill levels of predictors. Beside curious and/or competitive individuals, potential customers include news organizations and sports broadcasting companies.
The seed funding will help Knoda complete the development of its iPhone application set to launch in early December. The company, which will hire four employees, also plans to build Android and desktop versions scheduled to launch in early 2014.
Knoda was an inaugural member of the SparkLabKC business accelerator and is part of the Digital Sandbox program.
