Strawberry Hill Povitica has just won the QVC Customer Choice Food Award for best breakfast food, the shopping channel announced.

“Every year QVC asks their customers to vote for their favorite products,” says Marc O’Leary, co-owner and executive director of Strawberry Hill Povitica. “We were nominated last year, but didn’t win. This year we came out on top.”

The company, which was a Thinking Bigger Business cover story in December 2012, sells its dessert bread on QVC about 20 times a year. Based in Merriam, Strawberry Hill Povitica has experienced strong growth in recent years and has expanded operations to keep pace with increased demand.

“The highlight for me was to teach a live studio audience how to phonetically say povitica,” says O’Leary. “That was a blast!”

(The correct way to pronounce povitica, by the way, is po-va-teet-sa.)
